Dispersion Mill is an ideal equipment for micron zing the particles of the insoluble chemicals in the liquid phase. Dispersion mill uses grinding medium like glass beads in the form of small beads of diameters ranging from 3mm. to 6 mm. which are lighter in weight and with somewhat softer material than ceramic beads used in other equipments. Because of material being softer, they themselves do not break easily and last longer. These glass-beads are bombarded by the plate rotating in the liquid phase to break the particles  of the chemicals  charged.  In case of chemicals which are insoluble in the liquids in which they are mixed, the particle size plays an important role because the  particle movement in the liquid phase and their reacting capacity increases as the particle size decreases.  This very fact can be utilized  to reduce the amount of chemicals,  time of reaction i.e. vulcanization in case of rubber – and also the temperature and energy as a result of it. 

The filler  plays a vital role in economy of the rubber products. This filler if used after micron zing their particles, will mix well with the rubber molecules and fill up the space between the rubber molecules and ultimately improve the quality and finish of the product and also increases the scope for more amount of fillers.

Readymade dispersions which have a good stability, now marketed by a British company, is the product of dispersion mill.

In case of large capacity mills like those with  500 lts., tanks are mounted on either one  platform in double or single  on separate ones and the electric motor for drive for the stirrers are also used single or double as preferred.  In case of  500 lts. tank,  the driving motor is 10 HP, 960 RPM for one tank i. e 20 HP, 960 RPM for double tanks. Even for two tanks on one platform, two separate motors can be used each of 10 HP, 960 RPM  for each tank.  In the latter case, a common control panel will be used  in which contacters and push buttons  will be separate for each motor  while in case tanks with separate platforms the motors and  the control panels both will be separate.

The inner tank will be  from  6 mm. 304 quality SS plate while jacket from 6mm. MS plate and the platform from heavy channels.
